Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Unwanted guest in house
My 40yr old sister has been told she has three weeks to get out of the house. It's been three weeks and she refuses to leave. What do i need to do to get her removed?

You really want to sit down with a lawyer, and get some advice. You want to know whether you have created a landlord (you) and tenant (her) relationship or not. It would be bad if you have, and you need to know this before acting. There are big penalties for violating landlord-tenant law.
If she is not legally considered a 'tenant' then you will be able to throw her out short and sweet.

Since she is a guest and not a tenant she is now trespassing. You can call the police and ask them to remove her.
I would think that you can get her to move by warning her of what you will do. I hope that your sister will react peaceably to this information.

If she pays rent, you have to evict her. If she doesn't, just call the police.
