Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
wife fighting divorce
my wife was served divorce papers. She lives in Maryland, I am in NJ. Seperated 15 years, one child 19 yrs old. I received a phone call saying she is fighting it, getting me for leaving Maryland 15 years ago, and fighting for back child support. She claims i signed court papers for 100.00 a week, when child was 2-3 yrs old. I dont remember signing anything, I never went to court. She claims there is a bench warrant out for my arrest. Wouldnt I have received something from the courts, or probabtion for back child support? Wouldnt they send me letters saying how much in arrears I am? SHe has always known my address and phone number. But I have heard absolutely nothing in 15 yrs. Now she was served divorce papers and this is all coming out in the open. Do the courts do this type of thing? No notices, not taking my tax refunds. Can you explain this to me

Re: wife fighting divorce
You should ;have an attorney to file for divorce and you should be asking your attorney these questions.
You seem to be concerned that you owe
fifteen years of child support. Maybe you do and maydo you don't. It all depends.
Give me a call.

This is serious business. You could be looking at paying her a ton of money.
Is she filing in Maryland? If so, you obviously need a Maryland attorney. If she is filing in NJ, then I could help you.
