Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Wife had residential custody. She is moving out of town 1.5 hours away. She now tells me that I will have to drive both ways-full distance on my visitation weekends. Is there a law that would show she has to meet me half way since she is taking them from the town we BOTH live in currently?

There are hardly any "laws" when it comes to family court. There is case law that can/will be enforced by a court. So, if you want to make an issue out of this, you may have to file a motion with the court. Call me at 732/773/2768 to discuss.
Meeting you halfway should be a condition of her moving so far away. Tell her that you will file a motion for same unless she agrees to this conditiuon. You should also tell her that her refusing to meet this condition will cause both of you to waste a lot of money on attorneys.

There is no set law regarding driving for visitations, however, it is not unreasonable to ask her to meet you halfway. If she fails to agree, you should file a motion withthe court requesting an order that she be required to do the driving since she is the one moving so far away.
