Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

My (ex) wife and I have not yet started on our divorce filing. However, she keeps using our children as a threat and I was wondering, even though we are still married, can I file for some sort of custody, so she cannot keep me from seeing my boys? Btw, we reside in NJ
