Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
is it possible....
my wife threatens to take our child and move to another state or even out of the country if we divorce. the majority of her family resides here, in new jersey where she has a career. the only purpose for her relocation would be out of spite. is she legally allowed to just pick up and go?

No. Tell her that if she moves with the child without either your consent or a court order permitting same you will charge her with criminally depriving you of your visitation rights and she will be arrested and brought back to New Jersey in handcuffs.
