Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Will I get alimony* from my spouse if we divorce?

*sufficient for subsistence e.g. $30,000 per annum

I have no assets or income in the USA. I am a 'stay at home' parent, am 47 and have no recognized qualifications. We have been married 6 years.

My spouse has an income of around $200,000, has no dependents other than myself and our child & no other fixed expenses than the mortgage for the family home, taxes, insurance etc.

Custody of our child would be joint.

Thank you.

$30,000 per year is reasonable but the problem is that your marriage is so short, you are not going to get his for that long. To make up for this, I would seek something closer to $60,000.

I know you can not afford an attorney, and you are from anther country.

You need a good divorce attorney anyway. REALLY NEED A GOOD DIVORCE ATTORNEY.

There is a lot at risk here, and you do not want to lose all of that.

You need a lawyer to sit down with you and give you some advice.

I can explain things in detail in person after we talk. I will explain what legal issues I see, and what I can do to assist you.

This will be a free consultation. After we talk, you can decide what you would like to do.

Give me a call, make an appointment to come see me, and let's get moving on this for you. No charge for the telephone call and no charge for the first office visit.
