Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
I will try to be brief, I am recently divorced (2 weeks). There is a marital residence, which I did leave( due to verbal and mental abuse) before it was final,Which now my ex has decided to sell instead of buying me out. There are children, I did not take them, I live a block away. I was told by my attorney that it wouldnt hurt my case, we were going for joint custody. That was Wrong. I did get a new attorney, but by then I was told the judged did not care why I left. My ex makes 4x what I do. Custody isnt settled yet.My question I was told I dont get any alimony until the house sells,How can I be punished for what my attorney said was ok. In two months I will be homeless,I will never get custody if I dont have a home. And I 10.00 hr but thats to much for public assistance. Is this right?

Your questio is very complex and requires me to look at the divorce documentation. Your spouse canot sell the marital home without your consent. Yourprior attoney make statmnts after consultation with you. I think you need to sit down with an attorney and understand your rights. Call my office for a consultation.
