Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
Witness Tampering
My parents passed away and left my mentally handicapped brother without a guardian. There was a guardianship hearing on a Friday and I was called the previous Tuesday and told that the hearing was cancelled and I would be contacted when it was rescheduled. A few weeks later a received a package stating that my sister was now the legal guardian. In fact the hearing was never cancelled. The person who called was a male and said they were a representative of the court system. I asked my friend who is in the court system and she said this was considered witness tampering. Is it and would my next course of action be if I do not think my sister is an appropriate guardian? She hasn't done anything wrong with my brother, but she does limit information and visits with the other siblings. I and my other siblings do not communicate, but I visit regularly with my handicapped brother on Sundays. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Witness Tampering
I think you should get an attorney or at least meet with one. Not sure you will need one for all aspects of this case, but you should have someone to fight for you. The attorney you meet with can discuss going to the police with this or taking other action.
