Legal Question in Medical Leave in New Jersey

I was subpeoned to appear in family court in NJ

I currently live in Florida and financially can not make the trip to NJ on the date the hearing is scheduled. Would it be best for me to ask for a postponement or could I possibly ask if I could testify via telephone?
