Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

Taken advantage of by employer, credit ruined.

March of 2006 my employer asked to use our credit to secure a home for his daughter. They were supposed to take over home and get their own financing in 4 months. Never happened, they got divorced and left us with a vacant house and $2000 a month mortgage we cannot pay. My employer has assured me he would take care of it if there were any problems but made only one payment then stopped.

I tried to work this out with Citimortgage but was told they couldn't do anything until loan was 30 days overdue, then someone else said it had to be 60 days, then 90 days. In the meantime our credit has been destroyed.

This is a tough situation. I suggest you act now, rather than later. I would need more info, but things do not sound good. If there is no agreement or any other paperwork, he could always turn around and deny that he ever agreed to anything.

You could try to go to the police, but they may not care. You could sue him but that could get expensive. Your best bet may be to get a lawyer and try to work this out with him without going to court. Maybe some letters from an attorney will scare him.
