Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

buy a used car as it

i bought a used car as it. the dealer verbally guarenteed me inspection. the car failed inspecteion. he changed his mind about fixing it.so, i went to the monmouth county court house and file a claim in the special civil division. would i be able to get a conviction. it would be my words against his. since i did not have anything in writing

Do yourself a favor, seek the advice of an attorney experienced in the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act immediately. There are many laws of which you are probably not aware of which can make your case easier to prove and easier to win. As an example, the contract should have had a provision that obligates the dealer to fix the car should it not pass inspection. You have to sign the contract waiver to give up that right. First , you cant convict anyone in a civil case. Convictions are for criminals. Secondly, if you dont have a witness, you may have a problem. It will all turn on the credibility of you versus the defendant. Good luck
