Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey
Continental Airlines
I don't know where this question goes but here is the story:
My family and I went on vacation to Dominican Republic. We had a flight scheduled on 3/17/2007 which was canceled due to weather in NJ. I went to continental office in dominican republic and I was told we could not leave until one week later they said they had no space available in coach. My younger children were sick no medication(continental lost them when they delivered my bags a day after I arrived at my vacation). when I told my I was turned away no accomodation nor offer to transfer my ticket. I was told they had first class seats available the day after the flight was cancelled but it would cost my 700 extra each ticket (there's six of us). I asked if they could make an exception since the kids needed there medication and I would loose my job again I was turned away they said ''too bad''. when I called the office in the USA I was hung up on. Now they say they are not responsible for hotel fees loss of wages ...exc
is there any legal action I can take?

Re: Continental Airlines
This could go either way. First off, there is no way you are getting into a legal battle with the air lines. They have a lot more money than you. However, they don't want the bad PR so if thing is going to get worked out, it will get worked out sooner rather than later.
Re: Continental Airlines
I do not know the law in this area.
However, what you are describing is horrible. I would be willing to meet with you, find out the facts, and do a little research to see what I can find.
I am sure that there are some protections for airlines, but your situation seems pretty awful. It is worth looking at, to see if you have a claim.
If you would like, give me a call; I am in Hackensack (northern New Jersey). I will be happy to discuss
this with you; a brief telephone consultation will be free.

Re: Continental Airlines
Hi:
I believe that the preprinted part of your ticket back lists the airlines responsibilities and liabilites which generally are limited.
