Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey
I got custody of my half sister after our dad died and he mom turned into a junky. Shortly after staying with us she started getting a SSI check. She was her own payee and would transfer the money to us monthly. She only received 9200 while she lived with us for 10 months. We managed to save 2000 for her and the rest was used to provide for her. She just turned 18 and is now sueing me for 1500+5000 in attorney fees. What are her chances of winning ?

I see no basis for any attorney fee award. Provided that you can make a reasonable accounting for the balance of the SSI funds, you should not have a problem with it. Make it easy for the judge. As best you can, show where the money went.
