Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey
defamation/lible/slander/malice
my husband's ex-wife has made false allegations against me in a criminal suit for which she accusses me of repeatedly backhanding my step daughter and threatening to punish her if she told her mother about it. The child is 14 years old and was grounded for being disrespectful to her teacher. This child knew if she told her mother this vicious lie about me, her mother would get a temporary reversal of custody and she could go to the dance....which is what happened. The mother never bothered to find out that this was not the truth, and even created more falsehoods in the criminal complaint. I have a substitute teaching certificate that will now be permanently revoked because of these lies. I have prior letters from this mother admitting her jealousy of me and doing spiteful acts towards me, but this is her biggest attact on me. What can I do?

You will not lose anything if you are found to be not guilty or the case is dismissed. You must vigorously defend yourself. You MUST hire an attorney.
