Is there a statue of limitations on a DWI in New Jersey?

The dwi summons must issue within one year after the date of incident and after that the matter will be pending unti you respond to the court to defend against same. If you avoid the court for years it will be pending all those years, with the suspension of your New Jersey driving privileges and the issuance of a warrant for your

arrest if you are found in New Jersey.

If you dwi is very old it is possible to have it dismissed because the officer does not remember you or has left the police force.
