Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey
On February 2012, PSE&G road construction crew conducted excavation works on the partition of the street that is facing my house in Englewood, NJ and also on my private property, the front yard lawn.
According to the crew leader, the construction works had to be performed to repair apparent gas leak, which was previously spray paint marked, on the street pavement and on the grass of my front yard.
As the work progressed, I noticed some pipe sticking out from the still uncovered excavation on the part of my front yard. And I learned it from the crew members that it is a gas-shut-off-valve that is going to be permanently installed on my property. They also said it cannot be installed on the strip of land located between the street curb and the sidewalk where the water shut-off-valves and the hydrants are installed.
I was never inquired by PSE&G to install such device on my property; and I never permit one and I want to get it out of my property.
What can I do about it?

You need to meet with an Attorney and review any easment agreements that you have on the property. Depending on the easement agreement you may or may not have an objection to enforce.
