Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

Judgement

How can I remove a judgement that is against me? My ex-husband & I had a judgement against us from a hospital. When we got divorced 11 years ago the judge stated that the judgement was his sole responsibility in my divorce decree. I am remortgaging my house which I purchased 6 yrs ago & there is now a lien on it. Please help me get this thorn of 13 years out of my side. Thank you.

Re: Judgement

A lot has to do with whether or not the judge "said" what he did in conversation or in a documented order. Courts do business by orders. If you have a written order that says that you are relieved of responsibility for the debt, that can be submitted to the State and to anyone else at interest and should suffice. If you do not have a written order, you need to consult with your attorney to get one.
