Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

What does motion to force settlement and motion to reconsider mean in a personal injury trial? The case says settled/closed but now there are these two motions out there with court dates scheduled for next month. Is this the plaintiff or defendendant requaing these motions? or can it be either?
