Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

I think a past job is blackballing me...

Dear professionals: In short, I was harassed at my job 7 years ago (boss hated men, I was the only male in the dept., hired by another male who left immediately after I was hired), I reported the director to HR because I literally could not carry out my job duties anymore, due to the way I was treated. Little did I know, the HR person was one of her best friends. The HR person conspired with her, turned the tables on me (wrote up a false paper trail) and I was forced to leave. Currently [7 years later], I'm going on job interviews and getting all the way to the very end, then mysteriously not getting the job, with no explanation. It happens constantly - 4 times in the last 6 mo's, as an example. How do I know if I'm being blackballed from that job of 7 yrs. ago? I'm wondering if I had something negative on a permanent record somewhere? I subscribed to netdetective and did a background check on myself - it has no information at all about me, it even says ''some college'' even though I have a bachelors & an MBA by now. Where can I find my true background check info, and what do you think of this situation? Currently, I've removed that job from my resume. Are these employers calling this woman, and is she badmouthing me? Thanks, Mark

You can use a background checking service to check your own background. They should be able to find out who is giving you a negative reference. Your negative past reference may not just be from a prior job but it may also be a poor credit rating.

If you were recently terminated, you may have a wrongful termination due to sex discrimination. Feel free to call our offices to discuss.
