Re: who is responable for public safety?
In general, you cannot prohibit anyone from parking on a public street. If someone is blocking your driveway, you can certainly call the police and have them issue a ticket. In general, if the parking of the vehicles make passing through the street impossible, then you may be able to lobby the municipal governing body to pass a "no-parking" ordinance for certain hours, or limiting parking for certain periods of time (eg., one hour parking between certain hours). You may have other rights. To determine this, seek the advice of counsel. If you want to speak with me, call me at 856-546-8010. Mention Law Guru and your first consultation is free. Good luck!
