Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey
I have season tickets for over 7 years for a professional ice hockey team and was told today that the NHL Press needs to sit in my seats in the upper level for the final two rounds of the playoffs. I sat in my seats for the previous 2 rounds. They want to move me to one section over and I do not want to do it. The organization advertise that you when you get season tickets you will sit in the same seats for playoffs and I have been doing this since. I feel like they are taking advantage of me. What can I do? Should I move?

Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer. Your season tickets are actually a license to attend the game. In general, the licensor (the sports team) typically reserves the right to change the terms of the license and therefore may have the right to move you to another comparable seat. You can possibly speak to a more senior manager and demand to stay where you are or receive compensation because the seats you will be moved to are inferior.
If that does not help you could ask an attorney to write a stern letter. I would be able to help you with that. Your third option would be to sue them in small claims court and seek compensation.
