Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

seperation

I have been married from 4 years to a man who pays his own expenses & I pay mine as I am also working. I make peanuts from what he makes. I recently bought a coop that is going to convert to a condo. My question is that he does not want to give up his freedom and also does not want to leave me or pay any of my expenses. What should I do at this point?

Re: seperation

I am not certain that I understand your question. I suspect that you want to know who gets what in a divorce. If you are married, everything is split right down the middle. You each get half of what was acquired by you during the marriage which was not inheritance or a gift from a third party.

Should you get a divorce? You'll have to tell me the answer to that question.

Call me if you like.

Re: seperation

I have read what the other lawyer wrote, and as usual Gary is right on.

I understand that you make very little money compared to him, and you bought a coop, and you want to separate and maybe divorce.

You really need to sit down with an attorney and get some advice. Do not do anything until you talk to a lawyer.

If you would like me to assist, please call my office. I am in Hackensack. A half hour consultation will be $75.00. I will try to answer your questions, and see what you want to do.
