Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

shop lifting

If a person is charged for shop lifting the charges got dropped to disturbing the peace. How do you explain to your boss that you were charged with disturbing the peace.

If he asks you what you did, what can you tell him that does not sound too bad.

Re: shop lifting

It may get you fired, but the truth would work best. He will be unforgiving is he later learns that you lied to him. Trust is an important part of any successful relationship. Tell him what you did and why and that you had a moment of stupidity which fortunately was described in the final charge in

a vague manner so that you are not automatically disqualified from employment. Tell him that the prosecutor felt that you made a youthful mistake and that you seemed to have learned your lesson. I just hope that you are not fifty-seven years old.

One more thing, your boss probably knows the answer to the question is just testing to see if you are NOW an honest person.
