Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

I signed a one year lease with a roommate - she bailed not even halfway through and stopped paying rent. It is in written agreement we would continue paying our half (emails between us) and the lease has her name on it. She owes me almost $5,000 - that is more than small claims in NJ but can I still take her to court. Would it be easy to collect?
