Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

small claims court

I need to sue someone out of state (New Jersey), and I would like to know if I can have an attorney represent me, without me being there. Also, what should I expect to pay an attorney.

Re: small claims court

As Mr. Davies said, yes, you can. The problem is that for many attorneys do not handle small claims court or special civil because it is almost never worth it for the person. My retainer may be double what you are seeking. Doesn't make much sense huh? Feel free to email me though and give me some info about the case. I may be able to help you or I could refer you to someone that has lower fees.

Yes, of course you can do this, sue someone in another state. Your attorney can do everything for you EXCEPT testify as to the facts. You would need live witnesses, if that is needed.

What you should expect to pay will depend on how much work you want the attorney to do. Since you say this is a small claims matter, you want to be sure that it is worth hiring a lawyer.

Call me if you would like me to assist you.
