Re: statute of limitations in NJ?
No.
There is a NJ statute that says if nothing else applies, six years is the limit. The problem is that the timing requirements vary all over the lot for specific causes of action. Suits for environmental damage to land have no effective limit. Suits against government bodies for negigence have to be noticed (not necessarily filed) almost immediately after the incident.
You didn't ask, but I will tell you that there is a misconception about limitations on actions based on the running of time that confuses many people. The running of time is a defense to a suit. Almost anyone can file a suit at any time. The defense must be part of an answer. So, if you are sued out of time, you or your lawyer must answer and raise the defense. You can't sit back and hope that someone will realize that the suit is stale.

The longest time limit is six years, but six years starting when is not clear, and you do not give enough information for anyone to tell you whether the six year time limit applies or some other shorter time limit.
