Legal Question in Health Care Law in New Jersey
My employer won't terminate my med benefits
I'm recently engaged and have joined my fiance's medical benefits.
My employer refuses to terminate my medical benefits, claiming an engagement is not a ''qualifying event to terminate benefits.'' As such, I'm forced to pay over $140 per month for benefits I do not need nor want. Is this legal?

Re: My employer won't terminate my med benefits
Well it may be a requirement of your employer's group health insurance policy.
Remember to maintain the policy he is likely paying more than you are.
Ask your employer if the insurance agent might authorize letting you out of the group due to duplicate coverage.
Your marriage will likely be a qualifying event. Double check with the employer.
Good luck to you.
