Legal Question in Health Care Law in New Jersey
Illegal prescription drugs
I knew that in the past my fiance had a drug problem. I did not think for a second that when he told me he was going to doctor for his back medication he was going to a doctor that was prescribing him a very high dosage of percocets and then began to give him a prescription for xanax. I would gladly give him my debit card to use at the pharmacy thinking that he was getting something to help the pain in his back. He never informed me that what he had was a rediculously large amount of drugs. Last week, however, my fiance started going insane. Literally. He was acting completely nuts, unable to perform his job duties, getting violent for no reason, became lethargic, and we were fighting every minute. He had been hiding from me that this doctor, who use to be my PCP, was now a doctor feel-good, giving out scripts to every Tom, Dick, and Harriet without the proper forms or tests. These 90 pills a month almost cost me my relationship and possibly my fiance's life. Maybe I was too naive, but I am not drug savvy and my fiance was obviously just that smart in hiding exactly what he was taking and the xanax really took their toll. Is there anything that I can do? My fiance is still searching the house for the pills I took from him.

Report the doctor to the police and the Board of Medical Examiners, and try to get your boyfriend help.
