Re: Applying for Citizenship + Getting Married
Dear Sir,
What I typically suggest to my clients in situations where they may benefit from family as well as employment based sponsorship is that they meet with me in person and we run through the timeline of how long each option may take and then decide on a plan of action. You may contact our office at (732) 985-1310 (located in Edison, NJ) and we can set you up for a free consultation.
Sincerely,
Sameer Kumar
Re: Applying for Citizenship + Getting Married
It all depends on what has already, if anything, been filed for you, and also what, if anything, has been filed for your future spouse.
In your e-mail, you mentioned that you have been a lawful permanent resident for at least seven years, making you prima facie eligible to apply for citizenship (5 years is the minimum). Assuming that you do not have any other complications, you should file for citizenship anyway. This of course takes quite a bit of time.
Regarding your future spouse, if a labor certification has already been filed, or an immigrant petition has been filed, it may be beneficial for her to continue with that route.
Since there are many unanswered questions, and missing variables, it would be advisable for you to contact the office at (212) 618-1830 to speak with an attorney as soon as possible.
