Legal Question in Immigration Law in New Jersey

I am applying for a green card through marriage. Five years ago I was arrested for unlawful speed in the middle of Georgia by a state trooper. Spend the night in jail until I got the money order to get out ($1080). How do I get a court disposition on this? I called several police departments in Georgia and none of them where able to find any records. My driving record shows the date of conviction and state, nothing else.

You must obtain the disposition from the court with jurisdiction over the case. In NJ, traffic cases are heard in the municipal court where the stop took place. If you still have a copy of the ticket, it will indicate the town where you were stopped. Contact the municipal court of that town. If you don't have the ticket, you can order a copy of your FBI rap sheet. All of the details of the arrest, including the court that had jurisdiction, should appear on the rap sheet. I can help you with that. Please call me at (973) 856-6240.
