change of visa through marriage
Hello
Im on the student visa( i change is here from J1). My boyfriend is on work visa (H1). If we get married am i eligable for the work visa also? If not what kind visa i can apply for and what kind of privilages will come with that?

If you get married to H1 you will be H4 and will not have permission to work you need to find you own sposor for H1

Hi Monika,
You will not be permitted to work on H-4 status (which will be based on your husband's H-1). However, you may be able to file for your own H-1 assuming you meet the requirements. I would advise that if you do decide to apply for your H-1 you do so soon since the new quota has just opened up. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
