Legal Question in Immigration Law in New Jersey
Hello, I am a US citizen. I married my wife overseas. She received her green card through marriage When she came to the US, we were not sure if we were legally married in the US. Therefore, she applied for Medicare and WIC program as single. she was accepted for Medicare and WIC program because she is unemployed. I am not sure if we did the right thing. If not, is it fixable?

The United States recognizes legal marriages in other countries. If her immigrant visa was approved, then the U.S. government has acknowledged that your foreign marriage is valid.
However, as the U.S. citizen spouse/petitioner, you are supposed to be financially supporting her, & she is not supposed to be applying for government benefits. The government could seek reimbursement from you, if they so choose.
