L1 to H4 conversion

I am on L1B visa . My spouse is on H1B visa. Due to un-favourable job conditions I might have to return to my home country. Could you please answer the following questions on Change of status to H4 visa

1. Can I apply for H4 visa while I am still on L1B visa in the US

2. By getting H4 visa stamped will it effect the L1B visa issued on my companies behalf

You are permitted to have more than one type of visa in your passport. However, while in the U.S., you must choose between the two visa classifications and may not switch from one to the other without a cahnge of status application being filed.

I would recommend that you discuss this in detail with competent immigration counsel.
