Legal Question in Immigration Law in New Jersey
I am a Ph.D. holder and wish to volunteer research work in a non-profilt research organization without getting paid. Am I eligible to do that and is it ok to get the name in research articles out of that work.
I have read few clippings on the internet and found that H-4 visa holders can volunteer in community services only. Is that true.
I would be grateful to you if you could kindly respond to this query.
Thanks
Poonam

That's correct. An H-4 cannot accept employment with remuneration. Volunteer-work is fine.

Yes, it is true that H-4 visa holders can only volunteer in community services. This is based on the fact that the type of visa you hold is an NON-IMMIGRANT VISA.
