Legal Question in Insurance Law in New Jersey

Need advice

I got involved in an accident 2 months ago when a pedestrian crossed the street without realizing a car was coming. He croosed in the middle of the street and not in the crooswalk. I did'nt see him and I hit him with my car. Due to the slow speed I was driving, the injuries were very minor.

I got a summons for ''failure to yield to pedestrian'', but in court I was found not guilty of that charge, and recieved only a ticket for ''unsafe driving''.

Now, 2 months later, I recieved a letter from the person's lawyer asking for my insurance information, for ''injuries he recieved due to the accident''.

Do I have to send them this information?

Or should I contact my insurance company and let them know of the accident?

I am hoping not to get my insurance premium to raise since in NJ we have the highest premiums in the country.

The ticket I recieved for unsafe driving does not carry points, but now that the pedestrian's lawayers want my insurance's money I don't know what to do.

thanks
