Legal Question in Insurance Law in New Jersey
Car hit by US Postal Truck
My car was legally parked in my apt. complex and I was not home at the time. A US Postal Truck hit my car and the police were called and a traffic report was filed which says I was not at fault and the car was parked legally. I called the Post Office and they said I had to go through my insurance company. The car is 10 years old so I don't have collision on it anymore and therefore my insurance company says they have nothing to do with it. The Post Office won't give me the name of their insurance company so I can try to deal with them directly. I am trying to sell the car so now I have to keep my insurance on it longer then I had planned and the damage has devalued the car. Do I have any rights here or does the government have the right to get away with this?
