Legal Question in Insurance Law in New Jersey

i had recently recieved a check as payment for damage to my car. the car is registered under my name and the check was mailed directly to me. my parents decided to get the car estimate done and i agreed to allow that with the request that i knew someone that could fix the damage for cheap that i wanted to talk to before i got it fixed. they went ahead without my knowledge or permission and got the car fixed off the estimate they gave the insurance company. now that the money is in my hands and i never agreed to having the work done there. my parents are asking for all of it back to pay what i never agreed to do. do i owe them the money they used for the repair or do i have a case that since the repair was done without the authority of the legal owner of the car, the bill of the autobody which is in their name should be their problem not my own and i should not owe them a thing because i didnt want the work done where they took it?
