Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New Jersey

Can I create a Internet news feeder and charge people to use my news feeder that is generating the news stories from the Internet based upon keyword searches? Or do I need to get permission from the news sources such as Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, NY Times, etc to post their news stories in my news feeder which is being viewed by my paying customers? Am I breaking any laws by doing this?

The system that you propose most likely violates the copyright laws unless you have permission from the authors of the news stories. It is not likely that you will be granted blanket permission to republish news stories except from the wire services such as AP or UPI which will allow it if you pay their fees.
