Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New Jersey

I am interested in making some comic books (both Marvel and DC) from the 1960's, 70's and 80's, available for VIEW on a website. I would not allow download of the comics, just viewing. Free of charge, though there might be advertising on the website.

Does the copyright prevent me from sharing the electronic image of all the comic pages on my website? I do see comic covers all the time on websites, but not the full issues.

I am located in New Jersey...the comic copyrights would be from NY.

Thanks.

Yes, copyright prevents third parties from displaying the images without the copyright holder's express written consent.

If you do that, you can expect a reaction that may result in a suit. What you propose is a violation of copyright. The specific copyright owners involved here defend their rights vigerously against even minor infringement.
