Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Have 5 days to respond to a severence package agreement. (employment law). Employer will accept unemployment. I have not phoned unemployment as of yet. I was termed on "performance" however, did not have any performance meetings or docuementation at all. I offered a 4 tab excel spreadsheet showing retaliation by supervisor/and the lack of salary that was due to me. At my severence meeting, the HR VP had not heard of my salary problems and shared that she would attempt to gain retro pay and have that show on my unemployment. However, I have not heard anything about the retro pay as of yet. In addition, I asked to return to work and not to be unemployed. I asked to have a meeting with the 2 owners with in a week of last day April 16th. One owner was not in the country to the folloiwng week. Please advise me.

I can only provide a general answer without first viewing the agreement.

Many agreements have employees agree to give up their right to sue on the basis of civil rights violations such as retaliation.

If your agreement requires that you give up your right to sue, then you should not sign.
