Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

I was a contracted employee with a company where in my contract it was stipulated for me to give 4 weeks notice of resignation, which I did. The company "let me go" a few days later for no specific reason. They mentioned something about company profit spread and my salary. I didn't think that was a big deal, but they are withholding my final paycheck for no apparent reason and are stating that they will not pay me. No one at the company, even the Partners, can give me a specific reason for not paying me. Do I have a retaliation claim here? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I would need more information before I can say whether there is a retaliation claim. Please feel free to contact me ASAP so that we may explore your options and protect your legal rights. 973-921-0600. You may also wish to contact the Wage & Hour division of the NJ Dept. of Labor to file a complaint with respect to withholding a final paycheck.

Kindly note and remember that my response is merely a general comment on the law related to your question, and NOT legal advice or opinion. Also, your question and my response does NOT create an attorney-client relationship between us. You cannot rely upon what I have written, because I do not have all of the information that I need to advise you or render an opinion. Even simple facts you have not shared can completely change my answer. For me to give you legal advice or opinion, you would need to hire me to be your lawyer, and then we would need to discuss this in detail and go over the documents.
