Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Contractual Bound Employment

I resigned from Employer to join non-contractually bound competitor.

Subsequent offer from Contractual bound employer came in, I decided to accept subsequent offer.

Original employer is seeking compensation (in reduced fees) based on these events. I feel aggrieved they are profiting from my decision to leave to join a non-contractual competitor, despite me joining a contractual bound employer. If I was leaving anyway, can they seek compensation?

Re: Contractual Bound Employment

You don't say who your former employer is seeking compensation from. Is it you? Your new employer? On what basis? Without more facts, I cannot offer an answer to your questions. If you would like to discuss this matter, please call my office for an appointment.
