Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
I was discriminated against at work due to being a female and being pregnant. I was terminated when I was 8 months pregnant. I was always an excellent employee but the men I worked for wanted me gone so they could get a new male employee in my position.
I am currently working with the EEOC and they told me to come up with what I am looking for? I do not want to be greedy but at the same time I don't want to sell myself short. I have been looking for a new job since July but as we all know it is not easy out there.
How do I figure out what to ask for?

Give them this calculation: back-pay minus mitigation (e.g. unemployment) plus front-pay (estimated time it will take you to find a new job (e.g. 2 years); loss benefits (e.g. value of health plan for two years); loss contribution to retirement plan (past and future (2 years); other losses (money for psychological treatment (for example - you and/or family); money for employment search and possible new training; Non-monetary - good or neutral reference.
If all fails and you get nowhere then get an attorney and file suit.
