Employee vs. subcontractor status

What are the requirements that determine if a working person is treated and paid as an employee vs. an independent subcontractor?

Is ther some type of litmus test?

Check the IRS web site. They have a checklist to determine whether they consider someone to be an employee or independent contractor.

They will also evaluate individual situations if paperwork is submitted.
