i scheduled a vacation 6 months ago. Four days before this schedules vacation and newly placed manager emailed me to ask me to reconsider this time off due to a new system that was put in place after this manager was hired but before i scheduled this vacation. what are my choices- take the scheduled vacation or not or be possibly written up for this

Those are your choices. I assume that the time off for your scheduled vacation was approved in advance by this manager or your former one. Obviously, if you have purchased non-refundable services, like a cruise package or airline tickets, you should ask your employer to reimburse you for any losses. However, if the time off was not approved in advance and you are just now requesting the vacation, I doubt that your employer will provide any reimbursement.
