Employer comparing employee database with customer database

Note: I live in NJ, but am employed in PA

Can an employer check it's customer database to determine if an employee is also a customer? And if the employer determines that the employee lives in an area where employer's service is available, can the employer suggest that the employee purchase employer's service?
