Re: Is Employment Agreement legal?

Employment agreements are legal. The question is whether the term that you describe would be enforced by a court. That depends on the circumstances of employment and the investment in the relationship made by the employer. If the court considers the $20k to be a penalty, it will not be enforced. However, if that amount is a reasonable provision for liquidated damages, it will. So, you should consult a lawyer regarding your particular situation.
