Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

I worked as a general manager for a small limited service brand hotel for 3 months when i was told they could no longer afford to pay me. The management co. told me i would get 1 week severence pay. The owner does not want to pay me. Also I am the 5th GM in 1 yr. can this co legally disrupt peoples lives this way?

It depends if there was an agreement, express or implied, that your employment would be for a longer period of time. There is no legal right to severance pay, but under the circumstances as you have described them, it certainly would be appropriate for them to compensate you.
