Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
employment
I have been working as an RN supervisor and recently accepted a management position for the same company. I had my salary put in writing and signed by the director of nursing who hired me. My first paycheck was short by $1 an hour. Human resources says it's because I'm dayshift now and dayshift gets paid less. In the letter it said nothing of shifts, this is a management position and It states a set salary. Am I supported by the letter?

Re: employment
I'd take that letter to an attorney and if he/she finds it to be a binding contract, then the attorney can write to your employer and get that extra dollar. Its been my experience in employment law that if someone starts an employment relationship in a deceitful way, you can expect more underhanded conduct in the future if the employer thinks he/she can get away with it.
Re: employment
Assuming that the letter creates a contract that is not subject to some outside salary scale, you should be entitled to the amount stated in the letter. However, there are various ways to go about enforcing your contract. If the matter does not resolve itself by pointing out the terms to HR, consult a lawyer before taking further action on your own.
