Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey
I'm the GM of a technology company. A client who thinks we haven't done a good for job for him continually harrasses me. Phone calls and emails constantly threatening to sue me, my employees and the compnay I work for. Lately the messages and emails include name calling such as imbecile, incompetent, and pussy, I have these messages electronically recorded.
It's really statring to wear on me. Just the constant threats and insults from this man.
I just want the guy to stop.

That's a difficult situation. You do have a legal remedy in the sense that you can sue for intentional infliction of emotional distress. However, the maxim is that no one ever won an argument with a customer. So, a lot depends on whether you have the support from the owners. In other words, can you sue without risking your own position? If so, it's an option that you may want to consider. See also: http://info.corbettlaw.net/lawguru.htm
This will take some careful planning. Your company's client is an abusive person, and NO, he is not allowed to keep doing this. But, your company (and you) do not want to lose his business unless you have to. You are going to have to let your own bosses know what is going on, but without just seeming to complain about unimportant things.
